At Wiconi House Dementia & Respite Center, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Our safe and nurturing environment is designed to promote dignity, engagement, and comfort, while offering families and caregivers much-needed rest and support. We empower loved ones to live each day with purpose and joy, and we give caregivers the peace of mind they deserve, knowing their family members are in trusted, caring hands.

Day Center Address: Provided upon intake and admission

Our Story

Our Why- Wiconi House

Wíconí House was not created from an idea. It was born from lived experience. Founded by Shrounda Davis, inspired by her love for service and family, she transformed her gifts into a welcoming space where care, compassion, and community come together to support families in meaningful ways.

Navigating caregiving while trying to sustain work and life revealed a painful truth: families need support. Quality, compassionate daytime care options are limited. Caregivers are exhausted. And individuals living with dementia deserve more than supervision—they deserve engagement, dignity, and joy.

That is how Wíconí House was born.

Wíconí means “life” in the Lakota language. And that is our mission—to provide life where this disease attempts to diminish it.

Wíconí House is a day dementia respite center designed to:

  • Provide structured, meaningful activities that stimulate the mind

  • Create safe, compassionate, and culturally respectful care

  • Offer caregivers trusted respite and peace of mind

We are actively seeking sponsors and donors to help bring Wíconí House to life and sustain its operations. Contributions will directly support:

Donations and sponsorships can be made through iKan Outreach, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Letters confirming tax-deductible contributions are available upon request.
